British Columbia’s unique geography and climate provide growing conditions for a wide variety of tree species and forest ecosystems . Within the different ecosystems, individual trees with special characteristics that provide shelter, space, food or water for wildlife and plants are called wildlife trees. Wildlife Trees of British Columbia provides adaptable activities and information for teaching about the characteristics, identification, ecology, special status, and conservation of wildlife trees. Originally written for K-12 educators, the manual’s versatility allows community educators, camp counselors, naturalists, park rangers and tourism guides to use it easily as well.
